John and Anna McEver have a burden for struggling churches. With hundreds of churches in America closing their doors weekly, congregations are living in some of the most challenging days.
In a study done by Thom S. Rainer, he states
“Churches in the United States have entered a new season of ministry. Gone are the days when church attendance was a societal norm... To many people, the church seems irrelevant. I am particularly concerned about the declining health of many churches. Between 6,000 and 10,000 churches in the U.S. are dying each year. That means around 100-200 churches will close this week. The pace will accelerate unless our congregations make some dramatic changes.” - Thom S. Rainer from blog post “Hope for Dying Churches” January 16, 2018
There are nearly 20 churches a day closing their doors for good. Something must be done to help struggling ministries. God has called John and Anna to be missionaries to these struggling churches. The McEvers have been in the ministry for over 17 years and now they have the desire to Encourage, Equip, and Empower the work of Church Replanting, and Revitalization in this critical time. Revelation 3:2 warns us to “Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die:” Brother John is currently serving as the Interim Pastor of Hurricane Baptist Church in Wise, VA. We are praying that the ministry will grow and be able to support a full-time pastor. Your prayers and support of this important work is greatly appreciated!
